Community Cohesion

All Saints’ CE Primary, Moorhouse Primary & Kevin Sinfield (Capt Leeds Rhinos)
A Community Cohesion event was hosted by Moorhouse in February 2009. Kevin Sinfield, Captain of Leeds Rhinos RLFC, continued the tradition at Moorhouse Primary School by acting as Guest Presenter at the weekly 'Star Pupil Awards' on Friday 13th Feb.

Additionally, pupils from All Saints’ CE Primary School joined the celebratory assembly, following the connection between the two schools in which both respective headteachers have worked.

Successful pupils from each of the schools received their prizes and were congratulated on their achievements. Following this Moorhouse played hosts to their guests from All Saints for the morning.

Kevin, himself as a rugby league international, is no stranger to success, scoring over 2,000 points for the Rhinos and having won all major cup trophies. Kevin brought along the 'World Cup Challenge Cup', currently held by Leeds, in the hope that it will be retained in a few weeks time when the Austalian opposition will be Manly Sea Eagles.

All Saints and Moorhouse are seeking to develop the partnership and increase the understanding of schools that serve different communities.

Rochdale Borough Tea Party

An Annual event which celebrates diversity and community cohesion by bringing people together over a cup of tea took place on Wednesday (1 April 2009)

The Rochdale Borough Tea Day is an innovative project organised by the Rochdale Centre of Diversity, the aim of which is to bring people together from different organisations, communities, cultures, and faiths.

The main event this year took  place at the centre’s headquarters in Station Road.  There were  different cultural activities throughout the day, with special activities for children and various types of teas from many parts of the world were served.  Schools and other organisations were encouraged to host their own Tea Days.

All Saints’ C E Primary School and Moorhouse Primary School both decided to join in with the fun together. As part of their joint community cohesion project, the two schools put on a giant tea party. Children from both schools enjoyed a fun filled morning together at All Saints’ C E Primary school.  The party included painting miniature tea pots, playground games, a tea dance and of course a tea party!

The children involved were chosen for their good behaviour at All Saints’ C E Primary School and were Moorhouse Primary Schools’ ‘Stars of the Terms’.

The event was organised by Mrs Mann, Mrs Barton, Mrs Hardy and Mrs Rigby.  Mrs Fiaz and Mrs Purcell (Two proud Mums’) also came along to lend a helping hand!

The morning was a great success and gave all the children an opportunity to meet other children from a different local community.
