We investigated the different phases of the moon by sitting in a circle around our moon. One side was black to show the dark side of the moon and the other was white to show the part that was facing the sun. We all drew on our whiteboards what we could see of the moon and then we held them up for everyone to see. This showed us all the phases of a moon’s cycle and we learnt all the names too.
The sun came out today so we were able to complete our shadow experiment outside. Every hour we went out to see how the shadow of the pencil had changed or moved. We also discussed how the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
In Year 5 we are learning about the Earth and beyond in Science. We have been learning about the 8 planets and used our art skills to show the planets in space. We use wax pastels to colour the planets and the sun and then used a brusho wash over the top to complete our pictures.
