Music

Music is a universal language that enriches the curriculum. At All Saints’,  music lessons engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talents as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. We follow the Charanga scheme which allows pupil opportunities to listen, appraise, perform, create and understand in a variety or genres. Built into this is also the opportunity for whole class glockenspiel and recorder sessions.

Singing is at the heart of our music making, both in class and during whole school assemblies. We regularly take part in the ‘Young Voices’ concert in Manchester and a range of school performances. We offer our pupils the opportunity to watch professional theatre productions and shows performed by other local schools. Lessons delivered by the peripatetic staff include guitar, violin, woodwind and brass. In Year 3 we offer a project in the Summer term where staff from Rochdale Music Service come in to teach whole class ukulele lessons.
