To complete our Drip Drip Drip topic, we completed some river scenes using charcoal. We thought about how to show the movement of the water as well as reflections in it. It was a bit messy but we were happy with our finished pieces.
In PE this term we have been learning about orienteering. We had a map of the playground with different markers around it. We had to follow all the different maps to make a 4 or 5 letter word. We found it quite tricky at first but once we got used to orientating the map and working as a team we soon got the hang of it.
In our topic Drip Drip Drip, we have been learning about how water from rivers is cleaned to come into our homes. We have also learnt about how waste water from our houses is treated. We had a go at cleaning water for ourselves and compared it to the water treatment works. Our water was much cleaner than when we started but we all agreed that we wouldn’t want to drink it as although some of the processes were similar there were more at the water treatment works to give us the clean water we get to out taps.
On World Maths Day, we enjoyed logging into Mathletics to play against other children from all over the world! We also quite liked it when we against someone from our class. We also took part in some fun practical maths investigations that we had to think about as a group. We got some really good discussions about the problems.
We have been investigating our environment in Science. We had a look around our school grounds looking at the plant’s life cycle in action. We saw germination, growth and flowering and even some insect pollination. If you look closely you can see the bee at the flower looking for nectar. We also saw a bee with lots of pollen stuck to it’s legs.
In our Computinig Topic ‘We are Cryptographers’ we are learning about different ways of communication. Here we are trying out Semaphore. We found this quite difficult as there were a lot of different positions to remember.
We have been very busy making our classroom displays look lovely with lots of our hard work on them. We have also been thinking about big questions and have some of these linked to our topic which we discuss in Class Assembly. We have also looked at scripture from the bible that links to each or our topics also.
As part of our Easter Celebrations we have been very busy. We completed some crucifixion art whilst learning about the Easter story. We made a silhouette of the 3 crosses and used torn strips of tissue paper to create a sunset background behind them. You can see the completed pieces on our Easter display. We made cards of a chick hatching from it’s egg and discussed how his relates to the Easter story and why this new life is a symbol of Easter. For our Easter service via Teams, we made eggs, with images of important characters and key events from the Easter story, to place on our Easter tree during the service. It was lovely to see all the other classes.
